ASHLAR SEO Inspector — privacy
It collects nothing. Everything runs on your device.
What the extension does
When you click the ASHLAR SEO Inspector icon, it reads the page you are currently viewing and shows you SEO information about it — titles, headings, links, images, structured data and indexability. That is all it does.
What it collects
Nothing. No analytics, no tracking, no accounts, no cookies. The page analysis happens entirely in your browser and is never sent anywhere. It is discarded the moment you close the popup.
Network requests it makes
To check whether a page can be indexed, the extension makes two requests to the same website you are already viewing: it fetches that site's robots.txt file and reads the page's response headers. Nothing is sent to ASHLAR or to any third party.
Permissions explained
The extension uses two permissions. "activeTab" lets it read the current tab, and only after you click the icon. "scripting" lets it run its read-only reader in that tab. It never changes the page.
External links
The report includes buttons that open Google's Rich Results Test, the Schema.org validator and PageSpeed Insights. These only open when you click them, and only pass the address of the page you are inspecting.
